Yuki-Onna
Yasha in RG Veda
Yasha's Sanskrit name is Yaksha. Yaksha's are normally benign, and are powerful earth
demons. They guard the world's wealth, such as gold and silver. Kubera, the god of
wealth, is their leader.
In the Veda, Yama was the first mortal to die and discover the realm of the dead. He and
his sister Yami, were the first of the human race.
In CLAMP's story, Yasha is the king who protects Ashura, sometimes he is known as
"the demon of the north". Yama-tou is the name of Yasha's sword.
Yggdrasil
The World Ash Tree of Teutonic myth was called Yggdrasil, which means the Horse of Yggr. Yggr being Odin or "the terrible one". Its name comes from Odin's horse having the habit of stopping in the tree's foliage. The nine worlds were both sheltered and linked together by it. It was at the first root, that the Well of Urd was located, where it was tended by the three Norns. The Springs of Mimir and Hvergelmir flowed from the other two.
In its branches could be found the solar cock of vigilance, as well as the serpent and eagle (dark and light) who were forever locked in combat. They created the day and night. Near the trunk could be found a place of peace, where the gods might meet to deal justice. The serpent Nidhogg forever knawed the roots of Yggdrasil, representing evil-intentioned forces present in the universe.
It was from the care of the three Norns that the tree stayed forever green, and did not wither into death. They tended the tree to slow its decay by nurturing renewal and growth with the water and mud from the Well of Urd.
In the AMG anime, the system in the heavens tended by the goddesses is named Yggdrasil.
Yin and Yang
The Chinese symbol of cosmic duality. Yin is the feminine, shadow, and earth, while yang is the masculine, light, and the heavens. This symbol shows up in both Rayearth and CCS for characters with a Chinese motif. The twins in Twilight of the Dark Master, Huang and Chen Long, may possibly fall in with the yin and yang concept.
Yume-ni-ningyo
From OVA 3 of Dream Hunter REM. The doll in the shrine/cave that is stolen. The headless samurai seems to have a connection to the shrine and perhaps the doll as well.
